Democrats fail again
According to this Yahoo News report, it seems as if Bush has finally defeated his enemies in Congress who threatened to hamper US efforts to defeat our enemies in Iraq.
In a well-deserved reminder that they do not run everything in the United States, a humbled and bruised Congress learned to respect the power of the veto and the president’s role as Commander in Chief.
Their lesson grudgingly learned Congress is now working to fashion a bill that will pass the presidents desk and provide the necessary funding for US troops throughout the remainder of the fiscal year.
The bill should reach the presidents desk by Friday of this week.

I’m quite satisfied with the lessening of left pressure to remove the forces, however it still pains me to hear that they intend to raise the federal minimum wage. Raising the minimum wage does absolutely nothing but give high school and college students a little more money to buy pot. Although if this were 10 years ago, I’d be all for it, today it seems as though there are just entirely too many families attempting to live on that wage.
It’s safe to say the majority of those families are failures, and by allowing them to receive more of a handout, the government is doing nothing but perpetuating the already bad habits.

I saw a report a few months ago that claimed raising the minimum wage will actually do more harm than good. The reporter interviewed several people and few of them liked the idea. One lady would be forced from her public housing because her salary, with the increase, would exceed the maximum she is allowed to earn to qualify for the housing. She said she was worried about what was going to happen to her. Employers who are barely getting by but have a few employees may have to lay one or more of their workers off to offset the costs of their employees salary increase. Or, they can raise prices and loose customers to larger competitors better able to withstand the wage hike. Like most of what Democrats do, it is the intent that matters and not the results. Of course, here the intent is to come off as the benevolent party who cares. Yeah, cares about getting reelected from the votes of people too ignorant to realize what Democratic policies really do to them.
