Veto moves Iraqis one step further away from Democrat-planned genocide
According to this Brietbart report, Bush vetoed the Democrats irresponsible and artificial troop withdrawal plan.
“This is a prescription for chaos and confusion and we must not impose it on our troops,” Bush said, adding that the bill would “mandate a rigid and artificial deadline” for troop pullouts, and “it makes no sense to tell the enemy when you plan to start withdrawing.”
But Democrats can’t seem to grasp this simple fact. Now defeated, they are reduced to issuing hollow threats. Nancy Pelosi said “the president wants a blank check,” but “the Congress is not going to give it to him.” She went on to say that Congress would work with him to find common ground, but how can someone seeking victory and others seeking defeat find such ground? No, the president is just going to have to run over them if we hope to succeed in Iraq. He has no choice- and fortunately as Commander in Chief he has the power as outlined in the Constitution to do it.
